16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. But even more importantly, to see them return to Him and have the veil that is currently on their eyes removed! There is only one way for it to happen: 2 Corinthians 3:15-17: “For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 20 When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name-when they said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, and yet they have gone out of His land.’ 21 But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went.” May God grant us all the blessing of seeing the Jews returning to their land. 19 So I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries I judged them according to their ways and their deeds. 18 Therefore I poured out My fury on them for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it. Read verse 20 and ponder on it! “16 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 17 “Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds to Me their way was like the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity.
While reading the words of the prophet Ezekiel in the 36th chapter of his book, I can see how much God is dismayed by their presence away from the land He gave them. Even in his last meeting while in Rome, probably shortly before his execution, he referred to the Jews as “my nation!” However, as I travel around the world - nearly 80 years after the miraculous resurrection of the nation from the ashes of the Holocaust, followed by the unbelievable establishment of the Jewish state back in Israel and her thriving in the past decades - I am left wondering why so many of the Jewish people are still away from their land. Paraphrasing the words of the apostle Paul in Romans 11, I will say: “For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Judah”. Shabbat Shalom, I love the Jewish people.
